More than 100,000 Brits changed their name this year - including a Nottingham mum now called Pink Sparkly And All Things Nice.

The beauty therapist, who used to be called Charlotte Price, said she is obsessed with the colour pink. She mostly wears pink, lives in a house decorated in pink and works in a pink salon.

The mother of three boys goes by the shortened version Pink Nice but admits many people still call her by her old name. "My mum thinks I'm a bit mad really and so do my children. They stick to 'Mum'."

Adopting lengthy superhero monikers are best friends Daniel Knox-Hewson, 23, and Kelvin Borbidge, 22, also of Nottingham.

The pair who work in a pub together changed their names with the Legal Deed Poll Service for £13.39 each and are believed to both have the longest names in the UK.

Mr Knox-Hewson renamed himself Emperor Spiderman Gandalf Wolverine Skywalker Optimus Prime Goku Sonic Xavier Ryu Cloud Superman Heman Batman Thrash.

Mr Borbidge now goes by Baron Venom Balrog Sabretooth Vader Megatron Vegeta Robotnik Magneto Bison Sephiroth Lex Luthor Skeletor Joker Grind.

"We decided to change our names because we were bored of our day-to-day lives and wanted to do something that reflected our true personalities," Emperor Thrash said.

"We couldn't believe how easy it was to do - we just had to fill in a few forms and we were granted superhero status."

Baron Grind said he was looking forward to seeing his new name on his bank card. "I wonder how they will fit it all on?" he said.
