Published: 23rd December 2011

A woman who renamed herself Pink Sparkly And All Things Nice is among 100,000 Brits who underwent a name change this year, according to figures realeased by the Legal Deed Poll Service.

The Nottingham mother of three boys, formerly Charlotte Price, goes by the shortened version, Pink Nice.

The beauty therapist said she is obsessed with the colour pink but admitted it was done for 'a bit of promotion' for her Beauty Salon.

She mostly wears pink and lives in a house decorated and furnished in pink, and works in a pink salon which even uses pink wax.

'Everyone is still calling me by my old name. My mum thinks I’m a bit mad really and so do my children. They stick to ‘Mum’.' she said.

Adopting lengthy superhero monikers are best friends Daniel Knox-Hewson, 23, and Kelvin Borbidge, 22, also of Nottingham.

The pair who work in a pub together changed their names with the Legal Deed Poll Service for £13.39 each and are believed to both have the longest names in the UK.

Mr Knox-Hewson renamed himself Emperor Spiderman Gandalf Wolverine Skywalker Optimus Prime Goku Sonic Xavier Ryu Cloud Superman Heman Batman Thrash.

Mr Borbidge now goes by Baron Venom Balrog Sabretooth Vader Megatron Vegeta Robotnik Magneto Bison Sephiroth Lex Luthor Skeletor Joker Grind.

'We decided to change our names because we were bored of our day-to-day lives and wanted to do something that reflected our true personalities,' Emperor Thrash said.

'We couldn’t believe how easy it was to do - we just had to fill in a few forms and we were granted superhero status.'

Baron Grind said he was looking forward to seeing his new name on his bank card.

'I wonder how they will fit it all on?' he said.

The Legal Deed Poll Service said: "Many sought to make the alteration due to divorce, boredom or to bring a bit of cheer to their lives."
