This page lists the terms and conditions of use and service in addition statutory information pertaining to your rights in pursuance of the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.
These terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and any disputes relating to these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
The term 'The Legal Deed Poll Service' or 'us' or 'we' refers to the website owner.
1. Mistakes
If we make a mistake we will rectify the mistake and issue new documentation by first-class post, free of charge.
2. Legal copies
Legal Copies (also known as certified copies) are official copies of the original Deed Poll. You can request additional legal copies when completing your application form or you can request additional copies within seven days of your order being processed by us.
3. The guarantee
In its history of supplying government approved Deed Poll documentation, the Legal Deed Poll Service has not had to issue a refund under this guarantee. Our Deed Polls carry our official legal seal, so there is no question about the authenticity of the Deed Polls we issue.
We guarantee that your Deed Poll documentation will be accepted by all UK Government departments, companies and organisations. If a UK Government department, company or organisation refuses to accept your Deed Poll documentation, we will refund your money in full on the proviso that you post to us a copy of the letter in which you were notified that the Deed Poll could not be accepted.
We will then re-issue a new Deed Poll, free of charge.
The guarantee will become void in the following circumstances:
3.1 You have not properly signed the Deed Poll with the appropriate witness.
3.2 You provided us with false information.
3.3 If your Deed Poll for a child is not accepted because the record holder's parental consent requirements have not been met.
4. Cancellation rights
The following is provided in accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, a copy of which can be viewed by clicking here.
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 give you the right to cancel your application for a Deed Poll within seven days from the date you make payment for the service. However, in pursuance of section 13.1.A The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, because we will prepare your personalised documentation within two hours from the time that you make payment, by submitting an order to us, you agree to waive your right to cancel within the seven day period. Therefore, if you need to you must cancel before your order is processed by us, usually within two hours of your payment being received.
We reserve the right to refuse your application without supplying a reason for refusal. If we cancel your application we will refund your payment within five business days.
4.1 Refunds
If you decide to cancel within two hours from the time that your payment was received by us, your order will be cancelled and your refund request will be accepted.
5. Fees and payment
Value Added Tax is charged at 20% as from 4th January 2011.
Payment can be made online by credit or debit card, by credit or debit card on the telephone or, by using a PayPal account. You can also make cash payments at any UK Halifax bank.
6. Delivery
We will post your Deed Poll document by first-class post to the address provided on your application form. If you apply before 4.30pm on any working day (Monday-Friday), your Deed Poll documentation will be despatched via Royal Mail on the same day. If you apply after 4.30pm on any working day, your Deed Poll documentation will be despatched via Royal Mail on the next working day.
We offer the following delivery services:
- 1st Class (You do not pay for 1st class delivery, this is included in the Deed Poll price).
- Recorded Delivery
- Special 1pm Delivery
- Airsure Delivery (for overseas clients)
If Royal Mail fails to deliver a special delivery, or attempts to deliver, in accordance with their delivery guarantee (and we are notified within seven days of posting) we will we will issue a replacement Deed Poll free of charge (if necessary) and refund you the amount that you paid for the Special Delivery only, which is the limit of our liability.
7. Force majeure
The Legal Deed Poll Service will not be held liable for any failure to provide our services if the failure to do so is a direct or indirect consequence of an act of God, riot, war, civil unrest, official or unofficial industrial action, flood or other cause beyond our reasonable control.

If you fail to seek permission to reproduce an item from a domain either owned or managed by the Legal Deed Poll Service, your actions will infer that you wish to obtain a licence to use the said item for a period not exceeding thirty days from the date you publish the item on your website.
We therefore automatically grant you a revocable licence for use and we will automatically renew this licence every thirty days for the duration that the said item is made available on your website. You hereby accept that we will make use of search engine cache to determine the length of time that the item has been in use on your website.
Unless you are the copyright holder, forthwith upon publication of an item from any domain owned or managed by the Legal Deed Poll Service, you will incur a fee of £250.00. The fee thereafter is set at £199.00 per day, per item. The total fee per use, per item, for thirty days is £6220.00 including VAT at 20%. Your invoice will be delivered via Royal Mail within five business days from the date upon which you publish the copyright material.
